Durable Goods The data for durable goods those with a lifespan of more than three years measures the amount of manufactured goods that are ordered, shipped and unfilled for the time period. These goods include such things as cars and appliances, giving economists an idea of the amount of individual spending on these longer-term goods, along with an idea of the health of the factory sector. This measure again gives market participants insight into the health of the economy, with data being released around the 26th of the month by the Department of Commerce. Trade and Capital Flows Interactions between countries create huge monetary flows that can have a substantial impact on the value of currencies. As was mentioned before, a country that imports far more than it exports could see its currency decline due to its need to sell its own currency to purchase the currency of the exporting nation. Furthermore, increased investments in a country can lead to substantial

Gross Domestic Product The gross domestic product of a country is a measure of all of the finished goods and services that a country generated during a given period. The GDP calculation is split into four categories: private consumption, government spending, business spending and total net exports. GDP is considered the best overall measure of the health of a country's economy, with GDP increases signaling economic growth. The healthier a country's economy is, the more attractive it is to foreign investors, which in turn can often lead to increases in the value of its currency, as money moves into the country. In the U.S., this data is released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis once a month in the third or fourth quarter of the month.Retail Sales Retail sales data measures the amount of sales that retailers make during the period, reflecting consumer spending. The measure itself doesn't look at all stores, but, similar to GDP, uses a group of stores of varying types to get an idea of consumer spending. This measure also gives market participants an idea of the strength of the economy, where increased spending signals a strong economy. In the U.S., the Department of Commerce releases data on retail sales around the middle of the month.

The Good and the Bad We already have mentioned that factors such as the size, volatility and global structure of the forex market have all contributed to its rapid success. Given the highly liquid nature of this market, investors are able to place extremely large trades without affecting any given exchange rate. These large positions are made available to traders because of the low margin requirements used by the majority of the industry's brokers. For example, it is possible for an investor to control a position of US$100,000 by putting down as little as US$1,000 up front and borrowing the remainder from his or her broker. This amount of leverage acts as a double-edged sword because investors can realize large gains when rates make a small favorable change, but they also run the risk of a massive loss when the rates move against them. Despite the risks, the amount of leverage available in the forex market is what makes it attractive for many speculators.

The Euromarket:A major catalyst to the acceleration of Forex trading was the rapid development of the Eurodollar market; where US dollars are deposited in banks outside the US. Similarly, Euromarkets are those where assets are deposited outside the currency of origin. The Eurodollar market first came into being in the 1950s when Russia’s oil revenue - all in dollars - was deposited outside the US in fear of being frozen by US regulators. That gave rise to a vast offshore pool of dollars outside the control of US authorities. The US government imposed laws to restrict dollar lending to foreigners. Euromarkets were particularly attractive because they had far less regulations and offered higher yields. From the late 1980s onwards, US companies began to borrow offshore, finding Euromarkets a beneficial center for holding excess liquidity, providing short-term loans and financing imports and exports.London was, and remains the principal offshore market. In the 1980s, it became the key center in the Eurodollar market when British banks began lending dollars as an alternative to pounds in order to maintain their leading position in global finance. London’s convenient geographical location (operating during Asian and American markets) is also instrumental in preserving its dominance in the Euromarket.Central Banks - The national central banks play an important role in the (FOREX) markets. Ultimately, central banks seek to control the money supply and often have official or unofficial target rates for their currencies. As many central banks have very substantial foreign exchange reserves, their intervention power is significant. Among the most important responsibilities of a central bank is the restoration of an orderly market in times of excessive exchange rate volatility and the control of the inflationary impact of a weakening currency.

Money, in one form or another, has been used by man for centuries. At ?rst it was mainly Gold or Silver coins. Goods were traded against other goods or against gold. So, the price of gold became a reference point. But as the trading of goods grew between nations, moving quantities of gold around places to settle payments of trade became cumbersome, risky and time consuming. Therefore, a system was sought by which the payment of trades could be settled in the seller’s local currency. But how much of buyer’s local currency should be equal to the seller’s local currency? After the end of the second WORLD WAR the western allied powers attempted to solve the problem at the Bretton Woods Conference in New Hampshire in 1944. In the first three weeks of July 1944, delegates from 45 nations gathered at the United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. The delegates met to discuss the postwar recovery of Europe as well as a number of monetary issues, such as unstable exchange rates and protectionist trade policies.During the 1930s, many of the world’s major economies had unstable currency exchange rates. As well, many nations used restrictive trade policies. In the early 1940s, the United States and Great Britain developed proposals for the creation of new international financial institutions that would stabilize exchange rates and boost international trade. There was also a recognized need to organize a recovery of Europe in the hopes of avoiding the problems that arose after the First World War.The delegates at Bretton Woods reached an agreement known as the Bretton Woods Agreement to establish a postwar international monetary system of convertible currencies, fixed exchange rates and free trade. To facilitate these objectives, the agreement created two international institutions: the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the World Bank). The intention was to provide economic aid for reconstruction of postwar Europe. An initial loan of $250 million to France in 1947 was the World Bank’s first act.

The Forex market, established in 1971, was created when floating exchange rates began to materialize. The Forex market is not centralized, like in currency futures or stock markets. Trading occurs over computers and telephones at thousands of locations worldwide. The Foreign Exchange market, commonly referred as Forex, is where banks, investors and speculators exchange one currency to another. The largest foreign exchange activity retains the spot exchange between five major currencies: US Dollar, British Pound, Japanese Yen, Eurodollar and the Swiss Franc. It is also the largest financial market in the world. In comparison, the US stock market may trade $10 billion in one day, whereas the Forex market will trade up to $2 trillion in one single day. The Forex market is an opened 24 hours a day market where the primary market for currencies is the 24-hour Interbank market. This market follows the sun around the world, moving from the major banking centres of the United States to Australia and New Zealand to the Far East, to Europe and finally back to the Unites States.Until now, professional traders from major international commercial and investment banks have dominated the Fxx market. Other market participants range from large multinational corporations, global money managers, registered dealers, international money brokers, and futures and options traders, to private speculators.

The versatile actress: URMILA MATONDKAR's biography
Urmila Matondkar, petite and full figured, was a child actress who struggled as an actress until Rangeela saw an overnight transformation. She became more than just a ravishing face as she performed varied roles in the movies that followed.
Urmila Matondkar was born on 4th February, 1973 in Bombay (now Mumbai) in a Maharashtrian family.
Urmila Matondkar was six years old when she started acting. Her first movie as a child actor was in Shyam Benegal’s Kalyug (1980). Her role as Pinky in Shekar Kapur’s Masoom was praised. Baby Urmila, an immaculate little actress, delivered her dialogues with accuracy and knew the right frames and angles of the camera. Shekhar Kapoor, apparently, did not have to explain the shots too much to this little girl. She continued to act in movies like Dacait (1987), Zindagi (1987) and Bade Ghar Ki Beti (1989).
Although her first movie Masoom was an average film at the box-office, her next film, Masoom (1983), about a family coping with an illegitimate member, showed her acting talents blossom and she received critical acclaim from both her fans and the film fraternity. She subsequently appeared in a number of films including Dacait (1987), where she plays Sunny Deol's under-aged sister who gets brutally raped.
Urmila's child photo |
As a grown up, the director and the camera didn’t scare her. All that she needed was good films.
In 1991, Urmila made her debut as a lead actress in N. Chandra's Narasimha opposite Sunny Deol.
She then did the fantasy Chamatkar (1992) with the then-débutant Shahrukh Khan and Shreemaan Aashique (1993), a comedy on male chauvinism opposite Anupam Kher and Rishi Kapoor and a crime movie Drohi (1992), But no matter what films she did, while her fellow actresses Manisha Koirala and Raveena Tandon reached the peak of their popularity with blockbuster after blockbuster, success seemed to elude her.
After a couple of inconsequential films came Ram Gopal Verma as Urmila's saviour and she never looked back since then.
Verma's Rangeela catapulted Urmila to the status of a glamour queen. Her potential to dance and sex appeal discovered and displayed by Verma in the film made Urmila an overnight star.
She also appeared in several Ram Gopal Verma's Telugu films.
But her performance in films like Kaun, Satya, Pyar Tune Kya Kiya, Pinjar, Bhoot, Tehzeeb etc proved that she was more than a sex symbol and was capable of doing justice with any role. Also, Urmila challengingly took up the role of the other woman in Mere Sapno Ki Rani and Judaai.
The 5 feet 1½ inch (1.56 m) high, Urmila has been perform the item song in the remake of Sholay that was earlier performed by the legendary Helen.
Urmila was nominated for what is popularly called the Filmfare Best Villain Award in 2001, for her work in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.
In 2003, Urmila won her first Filmfare Award: Critics Award Best Performance for Bhoot. Her same performance won her recognition in many other award ceremonies as well.
Urmila has been nominated for Filmfare Best Actress Award category four times for films Rangeela in 1995, Satya in 1998, Bhoot in 2003, and Ek Hasina Thi in 2004 but has never won, yet.
Urmila Matondkar is undoubtedly a talented actress, but it is her great body, glamorous look and dance that give the 'oomph girl' an edge in the cutthroat world of films.
Today Urmila is known as one of Bollywood's most versatile actresses. She is an intensely private person and rarley gives interviews. She is a confessed bookworm. Currently single, with the usual rumours of her link with verma.

What Is Forex : The foreign exchange market is the "place" where currencies are traded. Currencies are important to most people around the world, whether they realize it or not, because currencies need to be exchanged in order to conduct foreign trade and business. If you are living in the U.S. and want to buy cheese from France, either you or the company that you buy the cheese from has to pay the French for the cheese in euros (EUR). This means that the U.S. importer would have to exchange the equivalent value of U.S. dollars (USD) into euros. The same goes for traveling. A French tourist in Egypt can't pay in euros to see the pyramids because it's not the locally accepted currency.

The FX market is considered an Over The Counter (OTC) or ‘Interbank’ market, due to the fact that transactions are conducted between two counterparts over the telephone or via an electronic network. Trading is not centralized on an exchange, as with the stock and futures markets. A true 24-hour market, Forex trading begins each day in Sydney, and moves around the globe as the business day begins in each financial center, first to Tokyo, London, and New York. Unlike any other financial market, investors can respond to currency fluctuations caused by economic, social and political events at the time they occur - day or night.

FX trading means that any market movement will have an equally proportional effect on your deposited funds. This may work against you as well as for you. The possibility exists that you could sustain a total loss of initial margin funds and be required to deposit additional funds to maintain your position. If you fail to meet any margin call within the time prescribed, your position will be liquidated, without prior notice to you, and you will be responsible for any resulting losses. Investors may lower their exposure to risk by employing risk-reducing strategies such as “stop-loss” or “stop-limit” orders.
