Mahima Chaudhry, the ever green and sexy girl with her charming smile and her killer look is ruling millions of hearts. Her personality looks beautiful with her long legs and height of 5 feet 5 inchs. She is a hard working woman who has always shown her talent through her performance in different looks and styles.

She was born on 13th September 1973 in Darjeeling, West Bengal.

She was first known as Ritu Chaudhry and later changed her name to Mahima Chaudhry.

Her father is from Kakripur village in Baghpat, Western Uttar Pradesh. Her mother is a Nepali from Darjeeling.

She attended Darjeeling based famous convent school till class X and later moved to Loreto Convent for her plus two levels. She completed her ISC board in 1988. She also attended Loreto College in Darjeeling. She won a local beauty pageant in Darjeeling before moving to Delhi for college.

Mahima Chaudhry was a model before she became an actress. She had a passion for modeling in the beginning but later she focused herself completely in the film industry.


Initially, she appeared in TV advertisements (including the Wall's ice cream ad when the brand entered India), and was a VJ on music channels where she was noticed by Subhash Ghai.

First got noticed as a model for Pepsi commercial, where she was over-shadowed by Aishwarya Rai.

Her career was launched by Subhash Ghai, who had launched to careers of many acclaimed stars like Madhuri Dixit, Meenakshi Seshadri and Manisha Koirala. She changed her name from "Ritu Chaudhary" to "Mahima Chaudhary" since Subhash Ghai has a superstitious belief of launching big careers with actresses whose name start with M. She won rave review for her first performance in Pardes (1997) as a village girl who still values her cultures. She was chosen to be the female lead among 3000 applicants who auditioned for Pardes (1997).


Mahima also likes to work with different actresses and has so far worked with Kajol, Shilpa Shetty, Urmila Matondkar, Manisha Koirala, Raveena Tandon, Rekha, Preity Zinta, Tabu, Padmini Kolhapure and Hema Malini.


Unlike most top actresses in India, she didn't mind playing second fiddle in films (example: Dhadkan (2000), Dil Kya Kare (1999)). Apart from her role in Pardes (1997), she also won acclaims on her role as Kavita, the loving wife of Ajay Devgan in Dil Kya Kare (1999)who loves her husband very much and cares him. Her role was split in two - one as a wife and also as Gajri, a prostitute. She was nominated in Filmfare Awards for that role.


Her supporting role in the movie Dhadkan was also fantastic and appreciated by the audience.

Mahima won a couple of awards for her charming performances like she won rave review award for her performance for the movie Pardes in 1997, Filmfare award for the movie Dil Kya Kare in 1999, LUX Face of the Year award for Pardes in 1998 and Best Female Debut award for Pardes in 1998.

Mahima was dated with tennis player Leander Paes. However they have split after years of their strong relationship.


She got married to Bobby Mukherjee in 2006 who was a famous architect. Bobby Mukherjee is a friend of Mahima's brother and they knew each other for a long time. The two married at a hoteliers' conference that was being held in Las Vegas. Mahima gave birth to their first daughter named Aryana at Mumbai’s Leelavati Hospital on June 10, 2007.
